The houses on Mission Hill are often called the “Painted Ladies” as they are painted in a variety of pastel colors and are an attraction for tourists. Gay Pride Parade

San Francisco has always been a very liberal city and is very welcoming to the gay community. What started as a small demonstration about 30 years ago has turned into one of the biggest events in the city with over a million attendees. The Gay, Lesbian and Transgender Parade have branched out to include education about safe sex as well as various floats and entertainment. While most large cities have a gay pride parade, the parade in San Francisco is by far the largest. It is held the last Saturday in June.
